Pitt and Jolie facing lingering divorce issues in California

On Behalf of | Oct 20, 2016 | Divorce

Choosing to end a marriage in court is almost never an easy decision, especially when children are involved. California parents often worry about the potential upheaval and emotional upset that may arise through divorce. On top of that, if there has been a breakdown in communication, parents may have difficulty reaching agreements concerning custody or visitation issues, which can further complicate matters. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie appear to be experiencing this type of situation, since they have been unable to resolve their differences after negotiating for at least a month.

These Hollywood stars are not the first parents to struggle to reach an agreeable solution to child custody issues, nor will they be the last. Certain details about their situation may differ from the average set of parents in that their fame means many of their personal issues are being discussed publicly. Whether those divorcing are famous or not, fighting over children often evokes highly emotionally charged situations that may be best addressed with assistance from an experienced and skilled negotiator.

In the case of Pitt and Jolie, problems are compounded by serious accusations that Jolie has made against Pitt. The allegations purport that he has been an abusive father. An investigation remains ongoing at this time, and the former couple has agreed to go to individual counseling.

Once issues are made clear through investigation findings, the court will be able to move forward in helping Pitt and Jolie finalize a future parenting plan after their divorce. Parents in California facing similar problems are urged to cooperate and compromise in order to achieve peaceable solutions. If, at any point, a concerned parent believes that obtaining an amicable resolution seems impossible, a family law attorney may be able to help those involved redirect negotiations and move forward toward a successful future.
