What Is The One Day Divorce Program?

The One Day Divorce Program is our process designed to help couples complete their divorce proceedings in a single day. While it cannot circumvent the Family Code’s divorce waiting period, our program aims to expedite the California divorce process for divorcing couples who have reached an agreement on all issues, such as child custody, property division and support, and just need help getting it done. The process is particularly beneficial for couples without complex financial situations or contentious disputes, allowing them to finalize their divorces without the prolonged timelines typically associated with traditional court proceedings, and the cost.

To participate in our One Day Divorce Program, both parties must agree on all terms of their divorce and complete the necessary paperwork beforehand. They must be cooperative and prepared to proceed. They then attend a 4 or 8 hour in-office session to review the final agreement and paperwork to ensure that everything is in order and that both parties understand the final terms. If everything is satisfactory, final documents are executed and sent off to court. We can even coordinate the notary. Then, all you need to do is sit back and wait for the documents to be processed.

Who Qualifies For A One-Day Divorce In California?

Divorcing spouses who have completed the following tasks may qualify for the our One Day Divorce Program:

• The respondent – or the other party in your divorce – has received the summons and petition.
• The Proof of Service of Summons or a response has been submitted to the court.
• Both parties in the case have completed or are ready to complete the necessary financial disclosures.
• An agreement has been established between you and your spouse regarding all terms for the judgment, including, as applicable, spousal support, division of debts and property, and, if applicable, child support, child custody and a parenting plan.

If you do not qualify quite yet, give us a call so we can help get you there. If you are just beginning the divorce process, reach out to our team at McCoy Fatula.
