Romain Dauriac's attorney lashes out over filed divorce

Many fans of Hollywood in California are familiar with Romain Dauriac and actress Scarlett Johansson. The couple married after having a daughter together several years ago. It wasn't long afterward, however, before rumors of probable divorce began circulating.

The couple had been embarking on an entrepreneurial journey together to open a gourmet popcorn shop in Paris. Reportedly, the two separated from their marriage months before their business officially opened. Dauriac has been the primary caretaker of their daughter since then.

He says his life and that of his daughter revolves around Johansson's filming schedules. He was reportedly quite shocked recently when Johansson filed formal divorce papers and announced plans to seek joint custody. Johansson's attorney mentioned her client wants to reside with the child. Dauriac's lawyer said Johansson filed for divorce as a means to begin what will likely be a lengthy custody battle.

Johansson told reporters she has no intention of publicly discussing her divorce because she realizes her daughter will one day be able to read the news. Dauriac's attorney said it is ridiculous that Johansson would create a public spectacle by filing divorce papers then ask for privacy in the matter. Many California spouses understand this type of contention and have exercised various options to prevent lingering courtroom squabbles and emotional outbursts. A skilled attorney can be a valuable resource in such circumstances as many are highly skilled negotiators who know how to quickly diffuse problematic child custody situations that have potential to escalate into raging battles.
